The Venue is a 300 capacity live music venue based in Selby, North Yorkshire.
We have regular live music nights either hosted by ourselves or ran through promotion agencies. There are a number of ways to get a gig at The Riverside that apply to both bands and agents alike, so please read the info below carefully before asking for a gig.
Getting a gig at The Venue or The Riverside
The venues host many different gigs all booked in house taking in many genres of music. We run weekend evening gigs, all day events and sponsored events. We book signed and unsigned bands alike but only those that stand out from the crowd. If you wish to play on one of these gigs email email@example.com including a link to some music or videos and the date/s you are looking for.
10% of the bar take for the evening from doors opening till 30 minutes afer the last band come off stage. We expect headline bands to be able to perform for a minimum of 45 minutes and do there utmost to promote the gig. They must not have performed or be performing in Selby or York at least one month either side of the gig here.
Support bands get an agreed percentage of any ticket sales that they make on a paid entry gig. For a free entry gig there is no payment at the moment. We expect supports to be able to play for a minimum of 30 minutes and to help promote the gig. Good support bands that promote the show well may be offered a headline slot when there is one available.
Headline and support band riders
A basic food rider will be made available to all bands such as sandwiches, crisps and pizza along with soft drinks.
100% door take deal with the first £100 guaranteed by the venue, including a basic food and drink rider. We try and keep tribute band nights down to one a month with a door charge of no more than £5 (higher by negotiation) There is a £30 engineer fee that has to come out of the door money as well.
Accommodation is available to touring bands and can be arranged prior to the show as we have a large comfortable band room that has 6 beds (sleeping bags or duvets will be required by the bands).
Promoters and bands wanting to arrange and promote their own gig
The venue can be hired out on any free night to run your own event and you can run your own door taking 100% of the door take. As a venue we will do our utmost to help you promote the night including our own website, local press, poster campaigns, huge outside boards and invites through Facebook and other live music forums. In return we expect you to make the gig a success by promoting through all available channels, if you need advice just ask. The cost of the venue hire is just £30. For this you will get use of the venue from 6pm (earlier by arrangement), full PA and lights, sound engineer, bar staff and an area set aside to sell your own merchandise. If you have a door charge you will need to have someone available to run the door or we can provide someone at a cost of £5 per hour.
Alternatively, you can let us run the door and you can take a 10% cut of the bar take from the time of doors opening till 30 minutes after the last band comes off stage. We will usually only charge £1 on the door and this cost is to cover an SIA registered security person. You also get the added bonus of a free engineer for the night.
There may be a £30 deposit that must be paid to the venue at least one month before the show and this is refundable on the night if the show goes ahead as planned and agreed.
